Zimbabwe Famine Relief Fund
The people of Zimbabwe are suffering through a famine from severe drought. You can help!
The 2024 cyclic effects of the global weather phenomenon, known as El Nino and La Nina, have had a devastating effect throughout Zimbabwe. Our communities are no exception. Our area, consisting largely of subsistence farmers, currently faces a scarcity of corn, which is the staple food of Zimbabwe. Most families rely on their fields for food for the entire year and the profit from these crops provides for everyday expenses like school fees and living essentials. The drought also caused the failure of cash crops such as cotton and tobacco, leaving the people of our community in dire need. Many facing physical deterioration and other effects of malnutrition.
As a community, we’re working hard to do all that can be done. The government provides some direct assistance to a handful of families per village. We’re partnering with local leaders and our community care department to assist the most vulnerable people including elderly, widows, and orphans. Practically, we have already distributed 30 tons of corn to those we have identified as most in need – God miraculously supplied half of this through one of the few commercial farmers in our province. This is a three-month supply, and it will run out by the end of July.
You can help bridge that gap! In response to these circumstances, we are grateful to have the opportunity to ask you to bridge the gap and bring relief to these struggling families with your generous gift to The Zimbabwe Famine Relief Fund. In partnering with us through this initiative, your gift will continue to extend the love, mercy and blessing of God in a difficult season through life saving resources. We seek to help support 400 vulnerable individuals through direct support and 200 families through our work-for-food program during this difficult time.
